You never forget your first kiss. Your first car. Your first job. Or the first time you are detained by the police.
For my first paperback book, I had a Book Release Celebration. A special mention to Quaint Cocktails in Olathe, Kansas for sharing your venue with us for the evening.
Thank You
For the ninety or so people who attended my Notice of Assignment Book Release Celebration, thank you! Frankly, the whole thing was humbling. Luke Wright was an excellent hype-man. And so many of you offered life affirming encouragement.
At the end of the first week, over two thousand paperbacks or digital downloads—overwhelmingly digital—have gotten into the hands of readers from all over.

As you can see, I even made a list or two on Amazon. Yes, I know anyone can give away free copies. But these first short stories and this novella are about building readership.
Yes, I’m purposefully looking for “my” readers.
Your word of mouth means so much. Your ratings and reviews help.
Again, thank you.
“Everything is fine. Until it’s not.” - Cal Brink
In my real world of real estate and property management, documenting everything is critical. Being able to look through our database for previous conversations and correspondence saves our bacon over and over.
In Cal Brink’s world, documentation can prove his innocence. But documents can also be the tools that make your life miserable—as Cal discovers over and over and over again.
He’s not quite Jessica Fletcher from Murder She Wrote. But with his background—private investigator, process server, realtor and property manager—both his clients and other agents bring their troubles to him. With the way he was raised, it’s hard to say “No” to people in need.
Make no mistake, Cal is not perfect. People are not perfect. Truth be told, people are far more complex than movies or books or news make them out to be. A killer can still love her own children. A devout believer can still embezzle.
Put Cal into the category of looking-to-do-the-right-thing-but-sometimes-goes-off-course.
That’s the Cal Brink Files.
